Welcome to MI Care – a volunteer-run, not for profit, charity dedicated to supporting the wellbeing of our elderly Magnetic Island community.
We connect neighbours, celebrate traditions, and provide practical socialisation, exercise and creative support.

Our Story
MI Care began with a simple belief: everyone deserves to age with dignity, connection, and a sense of belonging. What started as a small group of people determined to support older migrants has grown into a community where culture, compassion, and care come together.
Over the years, we’ve listened to countless stories — stories of new beginnings, of resilience, of families building a life far from home. These stories shaped us. They taught us that care is not one‑size‑fits‑all. It’s personal. It’s cultural. It’s built on trust.
From those early days to today, our purpose has remained the same: to walk alongside people as they navigate ageing, to honour their histories, and to create spaces where they feel understood. We’ve expanded our services, welcomed new communities, and embraced new ways of supporting wellbeing, but our heart hasn’t changed.
Our story is still being written — by the people we serve, the families who trust us, and the staff and volunteers who bring warmth and dedication to every interaction. Together, we continue to build a future where every person feels valued, respected, and at home.
Transparency and Document Access
MI Care is committed to openness, accountability, and clear communication with our members and community. The Resources page provides access to all current Policies, Procedures, Handbooks, Guides, and Forms used across the organisation.
To support this commitment, a Document Registry is maintained at the bottom of the Resources page. This registry lists every document in use and includes direct links to each file, allowing anyone to quickly view or download the materials they need.
The registry is updated whenever documents are added or reviewed, ensuring MI Care’s governance and operations remain transparent, accessible, and easy to navigate.
Support Services
At MI Care, support is about more than services — it’s about connection, wellbeing, and creating spaces where people can thrive.
While we no longer provide CHSP, CHP, or NDIS government‑funded services, our commitment to meaningful, person‑centred support remains as strong as ever.
We’ve focused our energy on programs that bring people together, encourage movement, and nurture creativity. Our enriched socialisation activities help individuals build friendships, stay engaged, and feel part of a vibrant community. Through our exercise and movement classes, we support physical wellbeing in a way that’s gentle, enjoyable, and accessible to all abilities.
For those who love shared experiences, our social club offers a welcoming place to connect, laugh, and participate in group outings and activities. And for anyone who finds joy in making things with their hands, our crafting programs provide a creative outlet that inspires confidence, skill‑building, and self‑expression.
These programs reflect what we value most: community, connection, and the wellbeing of every person who walks through our doors. At MI Care, support isn’t defined by funding streams — it’s defined by the people we serve and the relationships we build together.
